Shortly afterward, Redigit received a call from Nintendo's lawyers with a cease and desist, telling him to take down SMBX (along with all of his YouTube videos) and hand over. In April 2011, Redigit officially announced that SMBX was cancelled. The forums were brought back up, but during this time Redigit said that SMBX 1.4 would likely not be out for a while, if at all. In February, TrekWeb went down again - this time so CaptainTrek could take a break. CaptainTrek chose to start the forums over from scratch this event resulted in the loss of some members, most of which likely flocked to Knuckles96's forum again. At this time, also, TrekWeb went down for the first time due to hardware failure. In January 2011, Redigit secretly began work on Terraria with a small team of people from the SMBX forums (most, if not all, were SMBX beta testers). This version included Custom NPCs (originally found in Build 59), along with firebars, Battle Mode, and more graphics and bug fixes. X Version 1.3 was released to the public. This notified the community that Redigit had been working on a new version, and a little bit later a video called "Battle Mode" was posted as well. About 5-6 weeks later, the SMBX splash screen was updated (along with ) with a new video from Redigit's YouTube channel that showcased the Ice Flower. Redigit "handed over the torch" to this forum and linked it from the original SMBX website. On August 25th, 2010, CaptainTrek (another network operator of FOSSnet) opened the new official SMBX forums, known now by the community as TrekWeb. After those forums were taken down, users began to flock to Knuckles96's forum (originally created for his episode, The Great Empire), as it was the only active forum left. They were open for two weeks, and bikcmp describes that time as "the worst two weeks of my life". bikcmp, a network operator for FOSSnet (the IRC network where #smbx is located), opened up new forums a few days later. Redigit, Kyasarin, and Luminous had grown tired of "babysitting the community", the only concrete reason for the disappearance. On August 3rd, 2010, the SMBX forums were taken offline. Version 1.2.2 was released in early July of 2010, famous for adding Peach, Toad, and Link as playable characters. The version contained many background items and NPC updates, as well as fixing nearly all previous game bugs and issues. X 1.2.1 the largest SMBX version ever released. These beta versions, however, were not official releases of the game (similar to builds) - making Super Mario Bros. X 1.2 Beta 3 and Beta 4 were released to public and were the largest updates up to that point, adding water, tile slopes, the ability to have custom graphics and music. The official forums, known now by the community as the "original" forums, were opened.īeta versions were released entering the year of 2010. Custom graphics and music were not possible yet, with versions 1.1 and 1.2 that came out soon there after with minor updates added. It contained few enemies, blocks, and features. X was released on June 25th, 2009 as the version 1.0.1. The original and first version of Super Mario Bros. Plus, the player of the game can make stand-alone levels just for fun. series where the player beat levels to advance, or like in Super Mario World where the player advance through a map screen, or like in Super Mario 64 where the player starts out in a HUB world and must collect stars to advance. He/she can make whole episodes where either it works like in Super Mario Bros. The Level Editor can make any kind level or world the player can imagine for whatever the purpose you desire. Super Mario Brothers X has many enemies from older Super Mario games to Zelda to even Metroid. Such as the Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Super Leaf, Tanooki Suit, Hammer Suit, Ice Flower and many other Power-ups. Super Mario Brothers X has many Power-Ups. Yoshi is ridable (But only by Mario and Luigi in the current version).X 1.2.1 included time stopping power-ups and Pow Block. Some levels were practically made into new levels. The Invasion 2 is not the sequel but the update of The Invasion, except with levels slightly changed to include new features, custom graphics, moving layers and new power-ups. X 1.2 was the first version of Super Mario Bros. The Princess Cliche, The Invasion, The Great Castle Adventure, and the Invasion 2, the most recently, and last Redigit-released game from the official site. Many different Episodes have came with the Main Game of Super Mario Bros.
